Reflection 2

Good writing skills are necessary for effective communication and learning, to write well you must takes time and practice.  In this course I develop my writing skills by learning how to search for the information from the internet then I summarize, analyze and write it in my own way, also I learned how to developed and write the outline before the essay. In addition I have learned how to include a briefed reference and organize them. I will be using the writing skills in the future in my study in the coming years. By good writing a skill I will have good grades and greater academic excellence achievement. Also writing is one of the important ways of expressing my thoughts, communicating ideas and views to others .There are many ways to improve my writing skills in the future. I must read more and work on my grammar skills, I must choose my favorite newspaper or magazine and rewrite a couple of articles and challenge myself to write a strong paragraph , I must write to improve my writing skills. Also, I must be able to analyze and organize for better writing. The most I enjoy about this course is learning how to write because it is very interesting and important; I have already learned new things from this course about how to write a good essay and how to do a good assignment.

Calculator Project

 Introduction

The main purpose of the calculator is to add up large numbers in order to develop science and also to accomplish all kinds of goals. The very first basic calculator was mainly used to replace using fingers in adding numbers and help calculate numbers faster. Nowadays it is used in schools for simplifying equations in the process of learning and also in the construction fields to build up skyscrapers.

 Early history

In the past, people used Fingers to calculate a simple calculation, but sometimes they have some difficulty in calculation because of big values. Therefore, they created a tool that can be used to make counting easy, which is called a counting frame, it is made by a wood frame with a chain of tubes that contains beads which can slip and slide. Counting frame used for addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and square root.

After that came a brilliant young French mathematician named "Blaise Pascal", who invented the first modern adding machine in 1642. The main reason for his invention was to help his father who used to spend a lot of time adding numbers.
In 1960, they created the first solid electronic calculator. After that, a Japanese company in 1970 developed it and made it into Pocket sized devices. "contemplate the greatness and the misery of man'' Paris, Clermont. "Blaise Pascal." N.p., 14 Mar. 2013.

Development

In 1963 the first fully electronic desk-top calculator by Bell Punch Co. LTD and Sum lock-Comptometer LTD of England and called it "Anita" Ball, G., & Flamm, B. (1996, January 1).. Moreover, in 1964-67, the first large electronic desk-top calculators begin to replace electro-mechanical machines. In 1970 the first portable calculators appeared in Japan. Also, there are some innovators who began to create electronic calculators small enough to hold in one hand. In 1971, Busicom (Japan) made LE-120A, the world's smallest hand-held calculator. In 1975 the pocket calculator was widely used by students. In 1977 came out the TI-30 the LED scientific calculator. The first calculator capable of symbolic computation was the HP-28C, released in 1987. It was able to solve quadratic equations symbolically. The first graphing calculator was the Casio FX-7000G came out in 1985. In 2003 the HP 12c was improved, the "HP 12c platinum edition" Calculator  (2013, April 23 – Wikipedia,  with more memory, and the addition of the algebraic mode of data entry.  In addition, the reason why they developed the calculator is because the first calculator is heavy, expensive, and not practical. So they have developed it, so everyone can use it easily.

 Modern development

A major part of solving mathematical problems is depending on Calculators. They are not so hard to find, they are available everywhere in a verity of sizes, and also they are affordable. Since its invention, the electronic calculator has evolved from a machine that could only perform simple four-function operations into one that can execute highly technical algebraic symbolic manipulations instantly. Each new generation of calculators builds on the previous one, with heightened speed and more advanced capabilities.
I believe that in the near future there will be an advanced calculator which can take voice orders from humans and apply them directly. Furthermore, with technology development, they put a external memory card, so we can save our calculation.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Braise Pascal had the greatest rule on the development of the calculator. Calculators take an excellent part in making mathematics easier. With it we can do calculations easily. And according to all the information above, they developed the calculator because the first type was heavy, expensive, and not practical. So they have developed it so that everyone can use it easily. In the future, I hope that they will be able to create a calculator that can save all my calculations.

Reflection

I enjoyed learning Summarizing and referencing. Summarizing Help students recognize how information is structured will help them summarize what they read or hear.
Also Referencing is an important feature of academic writing. Referencing is the easiest part and the most difficult part is Summarizing.
When we did the referencing and bibliography, our teacher can check our source and verify our conclusion, also when we cited the pages, we respect the author who writes the pages, so we didn’t do the plagiarism.
When I learned bibliography and referencing the page, I became thoroughly familiar with my research before I begin drafting my work. It helps us in organizing our sources far more effectively than a plain works cited page could. Because we will summarize and describe every source, we will become familiar with what each source discusses. Without these summaries or descriptions, we may forget which source made a crucial point that supports our topic.
I would to learn another class like 1103 in the future because it’s Interesting .

Houbara bustards

Abu Dhabi government is helping in prevent houbara bustards from becoming extinct in North Africa. The author explains that " the birds are endangered North African houbara " (Todorova, V. 2011). The centre which Abu Dhabi member created in Moroccan is for houbara conservation. This centre has ambitious and plans to expand the release of birds. There are some birds that chosen for breeding. In the Enjil station a technicians works on matching females and males. The chicks which are under nine months old are kept in wire cages during hunting season to protect them. Scientist are using satellite transmitters to monitor the movement of birds after release. The program is working and shows that the number of displaying males has increased 10 times.

Preserving Emirati Traditions

There are some traditional Emirati sports such as falconry and Arabian saluki hunting that keep the traditions of UAE a live. Tourists who come should see these traditions everywhere they go and these elements will reflect our history and culture to them. Our traditional way of life should be given to students in schools and universities by an Emirati instructors. Students also must practice the traditional sports and not only learn them. Our young Emiratis should be educated about their traditions because it is important part of our national identity. If they are not aware of our traditions they will skip it because they are consumed in technology. Our traditional hunting ways are still used but the traditional transportation has changed.
